||A Drinking Song by Merry and Pippin from FOTR
¯Hey, ho, to the bottle I go,
To heal my heart and drown my woe!
Rain may fall and wind may blow,
But there still be many miles to go!
Sweet is the sound of the pouring rain,
And stream that falls from hill to plain!
Better than rain or rippling brook,
Is a mug of beer inside this Took! ¯
|A Drinking Song by Merry & Pippin from ROTK
¯Oh you can search far and wide
You can drink the whole ground dry
But you'll never find a beer so brown
As the one we drink in our home town...
You can keep your fancy ales!
You can drink them by the flagon!
But the only brew for the brave and true
comes from the Green Dragon!¯
||Merry & Pippin Quote from TTT
Pippin: "What's making that noise?"
Merry: "It's the trees."
Merry: "You remember the Old Forest? On the borders of Buckland? Folks used to say that there was something in the water that made the trees grow tall, and come alive."
Merry: "Trees that could whisper, talk to each other, even move!"
Merry & Pippin Quote from FOTR
Aragon: "Gentlemen, we do not stop till nightfall."
pippin: "What about breakfast?"
Aragon: "You've already had it."
Pippin: "We've had one yes, what about second breakfast?"
(Aragon looks at him, grins and walks off)
Merry: "I dont think he belives in second breakfast Pip."
Pippin: "What about elevences, luncheon, afternoon tea, dinner, supper. He knows about them doesn't he?"
Merry: "I wouldnt count on it."
(Then an apple gets thrown over and Merry catches it and gives it to Pippin and then he pats Pippin on the shoulder. Then another comes flying at Pippin's head.
||Merry & Pippin Quote from ROTK
Merry: "Why did you look? Why do you always have to look?"
Pippin: "I don't know. I can't help it."
Merry: "You never can."
Pippin: "I'm sorry, all right? I won't do it again."
Merry: "Don't you understand? The enemy thinks you have the Ring. He's going to be looking for you Pip. They have to get you out of here."
Pippin: "And you--your coming with me?"
Merry: "Come on."
Merry & Pippin Quote from TTT extended version
(Merry takes a long glace at Pippin and notices something different about him)
Merry: "You're taller."
Pippin: "Than what?"
Merry: "Than me!"
Pippin: "I've always been taller than you!"
Merry: "Pippin, Everyone knows I'm the tall one, your short one."
Pippin: "Please Merry. Your what, three foot six, at the most? Whereas me, I'm pushing three-seven!"
(Just then Pippin gets taller)
Merry: "Three foot eight!!!"
(Pippin shrugs and takes another drink)
Merry: "You did something..."
(Pippin shrugs and smiles)
||Treebeard Conversation in TTT
TREEBEARD: "Little Orcs, burarum!"
PIPPIN: "It's talking Merry. The tree is talking."
TREEBEARD: "Tree? I am no tree! I am an Ent."
MERRY: "Treeherder! A shepherd of the forest."
PIPPIN: "Don't talk to it Merry. Don't encourage it."
TREEBEARD: "Treebeard some call me."
PIPPIN: "And whose side are you on?"
TREEBEARD: "Side? I am on nobody's side. Because nobody is on my side, little Orc. Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
MERRY: "We're not Orcs. We're Hobbits!"
TREEBEARD: "Hobbits? Never heard of a Hobbit before. Sounds like Orc mischief to me. They come with fire, they come with axes. Gnawing, biting, breaking, hacking, burning. Destroyers and usurpers. Curse them!"
MERRY: "No! You don't understand. We're Hobbits, Halflings. Shirefolk!"
TREEBEARD: "Maybe you are, and maybe you aren't. The White Wizard will know."
PIPPIN: "White Wizard?"
